Welcome to the event site for the Mont 24 Hour MTB Race.

Mont 2010 by Dave from Mushy Pea Industries

The 2011 Mont 24 Hour MTB Race is in planning phase...

Ideas and plans are being discussed right now, so there's not much we can put on the website about the 2011 event. With what is scheduled at Sparrow in the near future we expect a new location is on the cards at least for 2011. We've got some great options available and we think you'll find the Mont will be a good fit no matter the location. Stay tuned.

The 2010 Mont 24 Hour MTB Race has been run and won!

The 2010 Mont 24 Hour MTB Race was a huge event and certainly our biggest Mont to date. With a weekend full of racing, entertainment and hanging out with friends, the Mont appears to have left smiles on many faces and judging by the feedback we have received it was a great success. How many people came to the Mont? It’s hard to say, but with our largest ever field of entrants combined with their friends, family and many others it certainly felt like a big festival of biking from where we stood. What we do know is that 9937 laps of the course were recorded, covering 191,784 km or roughly 4.8 times around the planet. Not bad for 23 hours in the saddle.

The highlights were many: fantastic weather during the day, mild temperatures during the night, an absolutely fantastic course loop, the introduction of Rawhide Roller Racing, awesome bike movies, a monster turnout for the kid’s race and a very diverse offering of all things bikery at Event HQ made for a perfect weekend for mountain bikers. We thank you for taking part in the Mont and making the event truly memorable. Special thanks go to the vast number of riders (and perhaps most of you) who took part in the Honour Roll for James Williamson during the first hour of racing. It was a ftting tribute to an outstanding guy.

Now while a lot of work goes into delivering the Mont over the many months before race day, an event of this scale is impossible to deliver without the incredible efforts of our Race Crew and the many volunteers who devote their time and energy to the Mont. I extend special thanks to David White (race director), Paul Cole (course director), Raynie McNee (volunteers coordinator and kids race guru), Ben Battisson and Stu Plant (microphone maestros), Kristjan Snorrasen (timing), Rob and Garrett (moto marshalls), Sherrie Cole (rego), Pam Price (shop and day licences) and the tireless tribe of volunteers who worked so hard all weekend. Really well done, and pats on the back all round. Special mention also goes to Shane Spicer and the team from Bike Culture who probably didn’t sleep as they were wrenching like madmen to keep everyone rolling for the entire weekend. Thanks also go to Tim from GuzBox design and audio for making everything sound like it should and to Tod and the crew from Aurora Images for snapping away all weekend to capture the atmosphere of the Mont. Secret thanks go to Awesome Sock Guy who has impressed and educated us all by sharing his hard earned 24hr secrets. Thanks mate... whoever you are.

We’d also like to acknowledge the brilliant support of a very loyal band of sponsors. Naming rights sponsor Mont Adventure Equipment, Major sponsors SRAM / Monza Imports, GU, JetBlack Products, Winners Bars, RSM Bird Cameron, Schwalbe, Jayco, Frameskin and supporting sponsors Enduro Magazine, AMB, Mac1 and Apres Velo. We receive outstanding support and advice from these industry leaders, so I urge you to support them whenever you can.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended the event as it is the people and their good attitudes that give the Mont that special atmosphere. It is also gratifiying and humorous to see the amount of effort that people go to to place their particular flourish on the event each year – the dress ups, the signs, the campsites etc all add colour and character to the Mont. Thank you, it is appreciated. A big thumbs up to the Beoudin of Harum Scarum this year, well done staying in character all weeekend.

Until next year, ride safe and keep the rubber side down

The MONT is a classic weekend of mountain biking. It is a must-do event for first timers and hard core mountain bikers alike.
We invite you to enter a team of four, six or more riders and fly around Sparrow's brilliantly flowing single track. While there's plenty of racing to be had, the MONT is also a pretty laid back event, so if you don't take your performances too seriously, rest assured you won't be alone.

Riders come to the MONT;

  • for a chance at podium (or bragging rights back at the tent)
  • to hang out with their mates and meet people who ride
  • to check out new season bikes, gadgets and gear
  • and, to rail some of the best single track around.

MTBA. The Mont 24 Hr MTB Race is conducted under the auspices and event guidelines of Mountain Biking Australia.
